The German Cultural Council (Deutsche Kulturrat e.V.) is the umbrella organization of the federal cultural associations. The German Cultural Council aims to stimulate cultural policy discussion on all political levels and to advocate for freedom of the arts, publications and information.
The German Music Council (Deutsche Musikrat e.V.) acts as an umbrella organization and interest group. It represents the entire spectrum of musical life and sponsors numerous music promotion measures and programmes.
As an association for associations, the DGVM is committed to the interests of associations and organizations of all types and sizes.
ELMA, which was co-founded by the BDKV and is based in Rome, is the international umbrella organization of the European event industry. Its objective is to represent all associations and organizations in the concert and event industry, especially vis-à-vis the EU Commission. The BDKV’s Managing President is Vice President of ELMA.
The BDKV’s Managing President has been a Supervisory Board member of the Initiative Musik gGmbH since its founding. The Initiative Musik is the funding agency of the Federal Government and music industry for rock, pop and jazz in Germany. It supports young musicians from Germany, musicians with a migration background and live music clubs.
The International Artist Managers’ Association (IAMA) is a worldwide association of artists’ agencies in the classical music field.
The BDKV’s Managing President has been an Advisory Board member of the Artists Social Security Fund (Künstlersozialkasse – KSK) since 1997. The KSK is responsible for implementing the Artists’ Social Security Act (KSVG). The law regulates the compulsory insurance of independent artists and publicists as well as the duty of the distributors of their services to pay contributions
The German Live Entertainment Awards (LEA) honours outstanding achievements in German show business in order to highlight the media industry’s work and to make the industry players and their achievements known to a wider public. Organized since 2006, the LEA aims to portray the entire spectrum of the live scene, paying particular tribute to the work of organizers, artists’ managers, concert agents and venue operators.
The New Bach Society (Neue Bachgesellschaft e.V.) is the successor to the Bach Society, which was founded in 1850 in Leipzig with the aim of publishing the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. For over 100 years, it has been committed to making Bach’s work known throughout the world.
To secure radio spectra for the cultural and creative industries, the BDKV supports the initiative “SOS – Save Our Spectrum”. It collects and supplies information for decision-makers in politics and administration, the media and the public to illustrate the threat that awarding frequencies to mobile communications poses to, among other things, live music events. → More
